Bankruptcy filings in June were down 25.6 percent from June of last year.

The drop came largely in the numbers of personal filings, via Chapter 7 liquidation and Chapter 13 wage-earner cases. Chapter 11 business reorganization filings were up 250 percent, totaling seven cases versus two cases filed in June a year ago.

However, part of the high 2011 number is due to Hawaii Medical Center and its east and west facilities filing separate bankruptcy cases, which now have been consolidated.
