Free beginner’s bike clinic Sunday

Island Triathlon & Bike’s monthly beginners cycling clinic is Sunday from 8 to 10 a.m. at Kapiolani Community College near the old church.

Topics covered are gear shifting, traffic safety and ride suggestions. The featured clinician is certified instructor Frank Smith.

Motocross at Kahuku track

The Kahuku Motocross Track is hosting its Outer Island Invitational Saturday and the two-day State Championship Race Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s racing also includes the Thunder Bomb Hare Scramble. Sunday’s schedule concludes with an awards banquet. Gates open at 6 a.m. Entry fee is $4.

Fourth of July paddleboard Monday

Hui O He‘e Nalu’s annual Independence Day Paddleboard Race is Monday.

The 4-mile event from Sunset Beach to Waimea Bay and will have staggered starts for paddleboards (11 a.m.) and stand-up paddleboards (11:15 a.m.).

Tinman deadline approaching

The deadline for mail-in entries for the 31st Tinman Triathlon is July 21. The race has been rescheduled to July 31 from the original July 24 date due to anticipated monthly jellyfish problem off Waikiki.

Entry forms are available at tinmanhawaii.com. Registration is also available at active.com.

The cost is $100 per individual and $155 for three-person teams. The course includes a 750-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run, and starts at 5:45 a.m. at Queen’s Beach. For information, go to Tinmanhawaii.com.
