A 17-year-old girl died in a motorcycle crash Friday night in Kilauea, Kauai County police said.

Police identified the girl as Vivian Arnett of Kilauea.

Arnett was the passenger on a Suzuki motorcycle that hit a mailbox in the 2800 block of Kauapea Road about 9:45 p.m., police said.

Arnett and a 23-year-old man who was driving the motorcycle were taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital, where Arnett was pronounced dead.

The driver’s condition was not known, police said.

Police closed Kauapea Road for 2.5 hours to investigate and were trying to determine the cause of the crash.
