Two lanes of Kalakaua avenue in Waikiki are closed this morning while Board of Water Supply crews repair an 8-inch water main.

The repair work is scheduled to begin at 9 this morning in front of 1971 Kalakaua Ave. near Tony Roma’s restaurant. No buildings or homes are expected to be impacted by the repair.

This leak was detected as part of the agency’s water system leak detection program, which allows the BWS to conduct planned repair jobs to fix leaks to minimize the occurrence of emergency water main breaks.
