Police fire Taser at suspect in Salt Lake
Police fired a Taser at a 20-year-old Red Hill man before arresting him this morning after he allegedly confronted officers while holding a knife.
Police said they responded to an argument call on Ala Kupuna Street in Salt Lake around 4 a.m. After officers ordered the man to drop the knife, he began walking toward them while shouting expletives and then began cutting himself, police said.
An officer managed to disarm the man by using an electric gun on him, police said.
The man, who allegedly assaulted a relative before the arrival of police, was arrested for misdemeanor abuse, and then released on $1,000 bail.
