Waimea Courthouse escape is short-lived
Hawaii County police caught a 19-year-old Waikoloa man who escaped just before 2 p.m. Tuesday from sheriff’s deputies at the Waimea courthouse.
Airiel Jost, who was at the courthouse for two counts of theft, was arrested on a $10,000 contempt warrant this afternoon when he ran from the building, police said.
Police launched a search and found Jost at 3:30 p.m. hiding in the bushes behind North Hawaii Community Hospital.
Police arrested him on suspicion of escape. He was also charged with contempt of court for the arrest warrant.
He is scheduled to return to court today.
