Police searching for 2 escapees from sex offender facility
Police are searching for two teenage boys who escaped from the juvenile sex offender treatment center in Pearl City Sunday night.
The two boys, ages 14 and 15, escaped from the facility during a fire drill.
Janice Okubo, state Health Department spokeswoman, said the facility houses boys, ages 12 through 18, who are ordered by the court to receive treatment for sex-related offenses. The 10-bed facility on the Waimano Training School and Hospital is run by Benchmark.
Okubo said a 13-foot-high fence surrounds the facility and that there are surveillance cameras.
