University of Hawaii to rent textbooks
The University of Hawaii plans to begin renting textbooks to students this month.
The school says over 300 titles and 14,000 textbooks will be available for rent. The cost of renting a book is about 40 to 50 percent of what it costs to buy a textbook at full price.
Books available for rent are listed on the bookstore website, and will be at the school’s eight bookstore locations starting Monday. Rentals are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
UH Bookstore Branch Stores Manager Tricia Ejima says students may write in or highlight in their rentals just as they would with a book they’ve bought.
She says renting textbooks is one of the best ways to save money.
