Chef offers tips on vegetarian dishes

It’s Vegetarian Cooking 101 at the next class at Castle Medical Center’s Wellness Center auditorium, 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24.

Chef Rebecca Woodland teaches vegetarians with limited skills, time or space how to make fast, easy and tasty dishes. Cost is $15 per person, $20 per couple, $10 seniors and students. The price includes samples and recipes for the prepared dishes.

» "Majestic Syrah," 6 p.m. Saturday: A sampling from California — 2001 and 2002 Girasole Syrah "Eaglepoint Ranch," 2004 Relic Syrah "Alder Springs" and 2005 Pax Syrah "Obsidian"

» "Old World Merlot," 6 p.m. Aug. 25: Five French wines — 2008 Chateau Tour Bayard, 2006 Chateau Lyonnat "Reserve de la Famille," 2007 Vita Nova Merlot, 2007 Chateau de Bellevue Griottes and 2003 Chateau Coufran
