Two of four men charged with breaking out of the Waiawa Correctional Facility two months ago could see up to five years added to their prison terms when they are sentenced Oct. 24.

Last week  Jordan White pleaded guilty to second-degree escape and George Thomas pleaded no contest to second-degree escape. They each face a maximum of five years in prison. The two will be sentenced Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. in Circuit Judge Karen Ahn’s courtroom. 

White, Thomas and two other inmates got out of their housing unit at the minimum security facility, June 25 scaled two six-foot fences, and managed to walk off the property undetected. The escape prompted an island-wide manhunt.

Police caught White and Elijah Ke-A-Kahumoku at an apartment complex in Wahiawa June 27. Authorities arrested Thomas and David Carvalho, Jr. in the parking lot of the Pagoda Hotel the same day.

Carvalho and Ke-A-Kahumoku are scheduled to stand trial the week of Sept. 6, also before Ahn.

The inmates are now being housed at the high-security Halawa Correctional Facility.

Inmates at Waiawa have four years or less on their minimum term, or four years or less on their maximum sentence, 

White, 20, was transferred to Waiawa Correctional Facility two years ago to complete a sentence for three felonies and would have been eligible for parole Nov. 20.

Thomas, 24, had felony convictions for promoting a dangerous drug, car theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He would have been eligible for parole in 2013.
