Part of Ala Moana Boulevard to be closed for pipe repair
Honolulu Board of Water Supply crews will be working to repair a leak on a pipe connected to a 62-year-old water main along Ala Moana Boulevard near Ena Road Wednesday.
Work will begin at 9 a.m. and involve the closure of a section of the right westbound lane of Ala Moana Boulevard between Ena Road and Kalakaua Avenue. No water customers will be affected.
The 12-inch water main and service lateral pipe were installed in 1949.
The leak was detected as part of the board’s ongoing water system leak detection program, which allows the agency to conduct planned repair jobs to proactively fix leaks to minimize the occurrence of emergency water main breaks.
