No air conditioning at Honolulu airport; repairs under way
Air conditioning at most of Honolulu International Airport remains out today, as it has been since 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The cooling system at the Diamond Head concourse was restored at 8 p.m. Tuesday, but it remains warm throughout the rest of the airport, including customs and baggage claim areas.
The problem was traced back to a broken chilled water line that was installed during the 1970s, said state Department of Transportation spokesman Dan Meisenzahl. Contractors are working to repair the line, but the air conditioning likely won’t be back up until sometime tomorrow, he said.
