Man seriously injured in fall from 50-foot waterfall in Palolo
A 20-year-old man was in serious condition Monday after falling off a roughly 50-foot tall waterfall in Palolo.
Firefighters were dispatched about 2 p.m. to a report of a man falling from a waterfall on Kaau Crater Loop Trail.
Firefighters airlifted the man from the trail and turned him over to paramedics at Palolo Field, an Emergency Medical Services supervisor said.
According to emergency dispatch reports, the man lost his footing above the waterfall and fell 25 feet, hit his left side on some rocks and fell another 25 feet into water. He apparently did not lose consciousness.
