Hawaii's Bryant Moniz bats away Colorado defender Ray Polk during first-half action.

SEATTLE » Three days after his University of Colorado football team was run over by Bryant Moniz, Buffaloes’ coach Jon Embree is still marveling about the Hawaii quarterback.

"I think the thing that surprised our guys the most is that he’s stronger than what you would think. And faster," Embree said on the Pac-12 coaches conference call today.

Moniz ran for 121 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 178 yards and another TD in a 34-17 victory over CU.

"Our guys up front thought they had him tackled and he was strong enough to run through them and break some arm tackles if they didn’t hit him solid," Embree said. "He’s obviously a good player. He won that game. I mean, he beat us."

Embree said, "They came up with some stuff they ran maybe one time all of last year or didn’t run at all. But, to his credit he took full advantage of it."

UH plays at Washington Saturday.
