Transportation Department to get $5 million for airport repairs
The Hawaii Department of Transportation is to receive more than $5 million for airport repairs.
Hawaii’s congressional delegation in Washington announced Tuesday a bulk of the Federal Aviation Administration grants is to be used for rehabilitating a runway at Kona International Airport by removing debris and strengthening the pavement.
Other repairs include fixing the runway lighting systems at Honolulu International Airport and eliminating ponding on airfield surfaces at the Lihue Airport.
