City and Habitat for Humanity team up to build 25 homes
Honolulu and Habitat for Humanity are teaming up to build 25 affordable homes in Maili.
The homes are being built on more than three acres that Habitat for Humanity bought with $900,000 provided by the city.
The city got the money from a Community Development Block Grant issued by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The single-family homes will have 2, 3, or 4 bedrooms.
The city said Monday the units will be sold to families whose annual income is no more than 50 percent of the city’s median income level.
Acting Mayor Douglas Chin participated in a ground breaking ceremony for the project on Saturday.
