Maui’s Kuau Beach near Paia was reopened today after being closed for three days following a spill of 5,000 gallons of waste water from a pump station last week,
The Health Department said the warning signs, which were posted Friday, were taken down today after water conditions returned to normal.
Waste-water discharge entered a storm drain which eventually empties into the ocean fronting the Kahului end of Kuau Beach Place on Friday, the Health Department said.
