A 28-year-old woman from Montreal, Canada broke her ankle while hiking near Hanakapiai Falls on Kauai on Saturday and was airlifted to medical treatment at Wilcox Hospital.

The woman broke her ankle while at the Hanakapiai Falls at about 5:04 p.m., Kauai officials said. 

The fire department’s Air 1 helicopter and Air 3 rescue team located the woman  about 200 yards below the falls and airlifted her to Princeville Airport, where awaiting medics transported her to Wilcox Hospital for medical treatment, county officials said.
