Hawaii head coach Greg McMackin looks on as his team plays against San Jose State in the first quarter of an NCAA college football game in San Jose

University of Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin said the 1-6 record of this week’s opponent, last place-Idaho, is deceiving.

"I don’t think their record (1-6 overall, 0-3 in the Western Athletic Conference) speaks for the football team they have, so we know we have our work cut out for us," McMackin said today on the WAC coaches’ teleconference."

UH plays the Vandals in Moscow, Idaho Saturday. Idaho has lost five games in a row since a victory over North Dakota. UH is a 10 1/2-point favorite on some betting lines.

"Coach (Robb) Akey and (offensive coordinator) Steve Axman are two of the best coaches in our league, so they are always ready to play and are always really tough in Moscow," McMackin said.
