A man who claims he’s being hounded by the media over the suspicious death of his wife on the mainland was sentenced this morning to five years of probation for stealing luggage from Nordstrom.

Anthony Simoneau, 43, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft in August.

Police in San Diego last year began investigating the death of his wife, Fumiko Simoneau, after DNA evidence identified her as the person found buried in a shallow grave in a nearby desert in 2007. Her husband had never reported her missing.
