Pipe bombs, marijuana operation found in Big Island home
Hawaii County police arrested a 39-year-old Puna man Friday morning after discovering four pipe bombs and an indoor marijuana growing operation at his Ainaloa home.
Vice officers executed a search warrant at the home and found the bombs, the marijuana operation, crystal methamphetamine and bomb-making materials at the home.
Police also arrested a 44-year-old Puna man who was on the property at the time of the search.
Officers seized 253 marijuana plants ranging in height from 6 inches to 4 feet; 1.5 pounds of dried, processed marijuana; 0.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine; marijuana; ice pipes; digital scales; and ammunition.
The pipe bombs were neutralized at the Army’s Pohakuloa Training Area by a Marine Explosive Ordnance Team.
