Sands Singapore agrees to pay disputed jackpot
SINGAPORE >> Las Vegas Sands’ Singapore casino has agreed to pay a $326,000 jackpot to a woman who claimed the resort initially disputed the amount.
Marina Bay Sands said Thursday that it will pay Choo Hong Eng 416,742.11 Singapore dollars, the amount of winnings displayed on the casino’s slot machine on Oct. 18.
Choo told local media that Sands initially said the machine had malfunctioned and was only designed to pay out a maximum of SG$50,000. Choo said Sands offered her that amount and a car. Choo refused the offer and filed a complaint with government authorities.
Sands said in a statement that it regretted any confusion over the numbers on the slot machine.
