Fraternity pledge sues UC Davis over hazing
SACRAMENTO, Calif. >>A California college graduate is suing UC Davis for ignoring his complaints of hazing and sexual abuse while pledging for a fraternity.
Ryan Clifford’s suit filed in Sacramento says he was punched, stripped naked, molested and forced to drink large quantities of alcohol while pledging the Chi Delta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi in fall 2008.
The San Francisco Chronicle says Clifford’s suit contends he was targeted for a particularly harsh form of hazing because he was one of the few non-Jewish students pledging the Jewish fraternity.
His lawyer Lisa Holder says Clifford informed University of California, Davis, officials several times of the alleged hazing but nothing was done.
UC Davis spokeswoman Julia Ann Easley and fraternity executive director Andrew Borans won’t comment on the suit.
