Auahi Street reopened after water main break
Board of Water Supply personnel completed work to replace a broken 8-inch water main that closed Auahi Street in both directions between Ohe Street and Cooke Street in Kakaako.
A break in the 21-year-old main occurred near 742 Auahi St. around 3 p.m. and affected service to three businesses in the area, a Board of Water Supply spokesperson said. Affected customers were able to get water from a spigot placed on a fire hydrant near the intersection of Cooke and Auahi streets.
Crews completed repairs on th 8-inch pipe at about 12:20 a.m. and finished repairing the road early this morning, a spokesperson for the board said.
Workers attempting to replaced approximately eight feet of pipe were slowed by the pipe’s concrete jacketing.
