Construction worker held on suspicion of theft

Police arrested a 43-year-old construction worker Sunday after he apparently attempted to steal items belonging to the person whose apartment he was helping to renovate.

According to police, the victim had been given permission to store items in a vacant apartment next door while her unit was being renovated. The contractor also had permission to access the vacant apartment while working.

On Sunday around 9:15 p.m., when no work was scheduled, the worker was found inside the apartment in possession of the woman’s property. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.
