Woman charged with pouring boiling water on ex
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. >> A California woman has been charged with torturing her ex-husband by pouring boiling water him as he slept and clubbing him with a baseball bat.
The San Mateo County Times says 39-year-old Jesusa Ursonal Tatad didn’t enter a plea when she appeared on Tuesday for arraignment.
Besides torture, she’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated mayhem. She’s in jail with bail set at $600,000.
Prosecutors say Tatad believed her ex, who shares a Daly City home with her, was cheating on her.
San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says the man was asleep Saturday when Tatad poured boiling water on him, causing second- and third-degree burns over 60 percent of his body. He was then hit with a bat.
