PITTSBURGH >> Pittsburgh police say a 911 call made by an online gamer brought officers to a violent home invasion in which a man was pistol-whipped and cash was taken by two robbers.

Police say the incident happened about 2 a.m. Tuesday while the man who would eventually be attacked was playing an Xbox game online when he heard the intruders kick in a rear door. The man alerted his online opponent, and that person called 911.

Before officers could arrive, police say the intruders pistol-whipped the man and stolen an unspecified amount of cash — but not before first threatening a woman who was also trying to call for help.

The victim was being treated at a nearby hospital. Police haven’t arrested anyone in the attack.
