Students receiving diplomas from the University of Hawaii at Manoa this weekend will hear an alumnus deliver the commencement address.

Computer game designer and clean energy advocate Henk Rogers is scheduled to speak to the new graduates Saturday at Stan Sheriff Center.

Rogers is credited with introducing the computer game Tetris to U.S. and world markets. He currently has three new startup software development companies.

Four years ago, he started the Blue Planet Foundation, which is on the forefront of pushing for alternative energy development in Hawaii.

Rogers attended UH-Manoa from 1973 to 1975.

Just over 750 students will receive bachelor degrees this semester. More than 450 will receive master’s and doctorate degrees, and post-baccalaureate certificates in secondary education.
