Police arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly threatened a security guard with a machete Tuesday night at Mayor Wright Homes.

Police said the security officer approached a group of males drinking in a prohibited area and was about to call police when the suspect brandished a machete and chased the 50-year-old guard, who managed to get away and call police at 7:40 p.m.

Police located the suspect a short distance away from the scene at 8:45 p.m. and recovered the machete while officers were investigating another case. The suspect went to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in another incident, police said.
