Cause of Hilo house fire under investigation
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that caused $75,000 damage to a vacant, 2-story house on Manono Street in Hilo.
The fire broke out at about 7:35 p.m. Firefighters arriving on scene at 7:42 p.m. saw the building fully engulfed in flames before bringing the fire under control at 7:52 p.m.
Firefighters searched the structure, but didn’t find anyone inside.
Hawaii Electric Light Co. crews also responded after the fire severed lines leading to the house and neighboring homes.
The fire was extinguished at 8:05 p.m.
