Police say man financially exploited senior citizen

Police arrested today a 40-year-old Makiki man who allegedly financially exploited an elderly man in Pauoa this month.

The younger man gained the confidence of the older man and took money from him on Dec. 5, police said.

On Dec. 15, he tried to take more money from the older man, police said.

Police arrested the 40-year-old on suspicion of second-degree theft and attempted second-degree theft.

He was released at 7 p.m. Tuesday pending investigation.
