A 25-year-old Kaneohe man was charged with allegedly beating up his girlfriend in Kahaluu.

Brandon Kenji Shimomura was charged with second-degree assault. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

At about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, police dispatch received an anonymous call of a man beating up a woman in proximity of Ahuimanu Road and Kahekili Highway. The victim, 27, was seen running away from Shimomura toward the Hygenic Store. Police received a second dispatch call from a resident on Ahaolelo Road who reported that a woman was at her home asking for help and that she was just beaten up by her boyfriend.

Paramedics responded and transported the victim to Castle Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries.

Police arrested Shimomura in the area of Ahuimanu Road and Kahekili Highway when he returned in his vehicle.
