Former University of Hawaii defensive coordinator Dave Aranda will become the defensive coordinator at Utah State, sources said.

Aranda was not retained as a UH coach after Norm Chow took over for Greg McMackin as the head coach.

McMackin reached an agreement to "retire" as UH head coach in December. Chow was introduced as the new UH coach on Dec. 22.

Chow later named Thom Kaumeyer, a former Jacksonville Jaguars assistant, as the team’s defensive coordinator.
