Ewa Beach woman, 25, arrested after critical pedestrian accident

An 80-year-old man was critically injured in a pedestrian accident today at the intersection of Fort Weaver Road and Kilahaa Street.

A 25-year-old Ewa Beach woman was being held by Honolulu police after the vehicle she was driving struck and critically injured a 77-year-old man who was crossing Fort Weaver Road in a crosswalk, Honolulu police said.

The woman, who has not been charged, was being held on suspicion of negligent injury and of not having a driver’s license.

The victim, an Ewa Beach resident, was in critical condition at Queen’s Medical Center, police said.

According to police, the man was crossing Fort Weaver Road near the Kilaha Street intersection close to 9:20 a.m., when he was struck by the vehicle.

Police closed Fort Weaver Road at Ewa Beach Road for about three hours while traffic investigators examined the scene of the accident.
