Boy tracked down for police officer assault, mo-ped theft
A 17-year-old Kaimuki boy was booked today for investigation of assault on a police officer and mo-ped theft after officers tracked him down.
An officer was responding to a report of a stolen mo-ped on Winam Avenue when he saw a boy riding a black mo-ped nearby about 2:40 p.m., police said. After speaking with the mo-ped’s owner, the officer checked the area for the black vehicle he saw earlier, found it, and followed it into a parking lot. The officer walked up to the boy on the mo-ped, who assaulted him and ran away, police said. The officer confirmed that the mo-ped was the one that was stolen and put out an all-points bulletin with the boy’s description.
Officers were able to get a name after describing the boy to security at Kaimuki High School, found an address for the boy, and arrested him.
