Officers arrested a 41-year-old Kalihi man who allegedly tried to take an officer’s gun during a struggle early Saturday morning, police said. 

Officers responded to Laniuma Road in Kalihi just after midnight for a report of an argument when the first responding officer saw the man reach for what appeared to be a knife in his pocket and tried to stop him. The man shoved the male officer and the two struggled to the ground. The man tried to grab the officer’s gun, police said. A second officer arrived and helped detain the suspect. 

Officers arrested the suspect for suspicion of assault on a law enforcement officer, attempted theft, resisting arrest, harassment, and violation of a restraining order.
