Clarification
The House Committee on Labor and Public Employment on Tuesday advanced a bill, HB 1811, that would raise employer contributions to the state retirement system for overtime worked by the employer’s workers. State Rep. Karl Rhoads, the panel’s chairman, said the measure creates an incentive for management to not offer overtime and is one approach to dealing with so-called pension spiking. A Page A26 story Friday reported that the committee deferred an anti-spiking bill designed to cap the amount of overtime used to calculate pensions, but the article did not mention HB 1811.
