Kauai under flood advisory as heavy rain moves over island

Kauai is under a flood advisory this evening as showers move over land already saturated from heavy rain over the weekend.

The National Weather Service advisory lasts until 8:30 p.m. and may be extended if the heavy rain persists, forecasters said.

The rain and storm runoff will cause hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility, they said. The public is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
