Police are looking for a man who initiated a three-car accident while fleeing police in a stolen van late Saturday night.

According to police, officers attempted to stop the 2001 Dodge Caravan after positively identifying it as having been stolen at an earlier date. However, the van continued west down Lunalilo Street, ran a red light at the intersection of Lunalilo and Ward Avenue and collided with a 2008 Ford pickup truck, driven by a 49-year-old Honolulu man.

The impact of the collision sent the truck, which was headed north on Ward, into an oncoming 2011 Honda SUV, driven by a 53-year-old Honolulu man.

The driver of the van fled the scene on foot.

Neither of the other two drivers was hurt. However, a 39-year-old woman riding in the SUV was injured and taken to an area hospital in good condition.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the driver of the van is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
