Rainbows score late to beat Dons
Max Duval hit the go-ahead RBI single with two outs in the seventh inning and Stephen Ventimilia went 3-for-4 with a run scoredt to lead Hawaii to a 3-1 victory over San Francisco on Saturday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
Collin Bennett added a key insurance run in the eighth, singling to score Ventimilia to give the Rainbows (13-7) a two-run cushion.
Brent Harrison worked the final 1 2/3 innings to earn his fourth save. Freshman Kyle Dowdy (1-0) allowed one hit in 3 1/3 shutout innings of relief to earn the win.
Hawaii starter Scott Squier allowed his first run in 20 2/3 innings, giving up three hits and two walks with three strikeouts in four innings.
Abe Bobb (3-2) allowed two runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings with one walk and five strikeouts to take the loss for the Dons (10-10).
Hawaii will try to win the series in the finale on Sunday at 1:05.
