Man charged with robbery after punching woman and taking cell phone

A 54-year-old man was charged with second-degree robbery after he allegedly punched a 50-year-old woman in the face during an argument in Waianae, police said.

Ernest K. Keawe Sr., of no local address, was charged Tuesday night with second-degree robbery and remained at Oahu Community Correctional Center on Wednesday. His bail was set at $40,000.

Police said Keawe violated a protective order and got into an argument with the woman, whom he was formerly in a relationship with, over the use of her cell phone about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Keawe then he allegedly punched the woman, took her cell phone, and fled.

Officers found Keawe a short distance away, fronting 85-574 Plantation Road.
