Abercrombie nominates 7 to serve on Hawaii Tourism Authority

Gov. Neil Abercrombie has nominated hospitality, culture and land use experts to serve on the Hawaii Tourism Authority.

The governor announced seven nominees Monday, noting that he incorporated suggestions from the House speaker and Senate president.

The nominees include Jack Corteway, a former bank executive and current CEO of Royal Aloha Vacation Club. Victor Kimura is a Kyoya Management Co. vice president. Michael Kobayashi is vice president of Tropical Island Creations.

The list also includes Aaron Sala, a Hawaiian culture expert, and Lorrie Stone, an attorney who specializes in land use and development.

David Rae, senior Vice President for ‘Aina Nui Corp and Kapolei Property Development, and Ronald Williams, the current HTA board president, round out the list of nominees.

The nominations require Senate confirmation.
