Rainbows drop game, series to LaTech

Hawaii left 14 runners on base in a 4-1 loss to Louisiana Tech on Saturday in the finale of a three-game series at J.C. Love Field in Ruston, La.

Ryan Gebhardt had three of Louisiana Tech’s 10 hits to help the Bulldogs (20-23, 3-9 Western Athletic Conference) win their first WAC series.

Breland Almadova had two hits and scored the only run of the game for Hawaii (25-18, 5-4), which is two games behind league-leading New Mexico State heading into a three-game series between the two teams next week at Les Murakami Stadium.

Max Duval drove in UH’s only run of the game with an RBI single.

Scott Squier (3-3) took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings with two walks and two strikeouts.

Hawaii finished 4-3 on its seven-game roadtrip and returns home to face the Aggies beginning Thursday.
