2nd assault on female student near UH campus under investigation
University of Hawaii’s Campus Security is asking for information about a female student being grabbed and pulled toward a car while walking near Kanewai Park Thursday night, the second incident near the park in one day.
The UH Manoa student was walking alone toward campus on a sidewalk next to the Dole Street park about 10:30 p.m. when a car stopped behind her, Campus Security said. An unidentified male grabbed her by the arm and pulled her toward the car, then released the student when she yelled. The student couldn’t provide a description of the male or the vehicle.
Campus Security said a UH Manoa student was sexually assaulted while leaving Kanewai Park about 3:30 a.m. Thursday. The student reported an unknown male grabbed her from behind, then ran away when other voices could be heard. The only description of the assailant was that he was tall.
Anyone with information in either case is asked to call Campus Security at 956-6911 or police at 911.
