Rainbows blast Aggies to move into first-place tie

Hawaii lit up the Les Murakami Stadium scoreboard on Friday night, blowing away New Mexico State 14-2 in seven innings to move into a first-place tie in the Western Athletic Conference.

Max Duval doubled and drove in three runs and Collin Bennett scored three times for UH (27-18, 7-4), which is now tied with the Aggies (30-16, 7-4) for first.

Four different Rainbows drove in at least two runs and five different ‘Bows scored at least twice as UH finished with its second-highest scoring output of the season.

Jarrett Arakawa (6-4) allowed two runs on five hits and went the distance to earn the win, striking out eight.

The Rainbows will try for a series sweep on Saturday night at 6:35.
