A Kilauea man died early this morning following a single car crash on Kuhio Highway near the Coconut Marketplace in Wailua.
Police said Bruce Perdue, 23, was heading north on Kuhio Highway at about 2:30 a.m. when his gray Hyundai sedan struck a utility pole along the northbound shoulder.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kuhio Highway was closed until about 8:07 a.m. while police conducted an investigation and utility crews replaced the downed pole that was blocking the highway.
There were no passengers in the vehicle.
