Baldwin’s Kaupe selected in fourth round of MLB Draft
Branden Kaupe was selected in the fourth round (No. 140 overall) of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the New York Mets on Tuesday.
Kaupe played shortstop at Baldwin this season and had signed with Central Arizona.
He helped the Bears advance to the Division I state championship game before losing to Waiakea.
He’s the highest draft pick from Maui since Kurt Suzuki was taken in the second round (No. 67 overall) by the Oakland Athletics in 2004.
