Small fire chars dry brush in Kahului, Maui
Maui firefighters responded to a small brush fire this afternoon near Ceramic Tile Plus on Kahului Beach Road, county officials said.
The fire singed a 25-foot by 50-foot patch of dry brush, and no injuries or monetary damage were reported, a county spokesman said.
The call came in at 2:01 p.m., and the fire was extinguished 35 minutes later.
Police briefly closed the right-hand turn lane from Beach Road onto Kahumanu Avenue while firefighters fought the blaze, the county said.
