A 21-year-old Makiki man is in police custody facing burglary, domestic abuse and other charges after he allegedly struck his girlfriend during an argument.

Police said the 25-year-old woman had a restraining order against the suspect when the suspect broke into her home in March. The two argued and the suspect struck the woman injuring her, according to a police report. The suspect fled before officers arrived.

On Monday, while responding to report of suspicious persons in the Punchbowl area, police arrested the suspect based on his outstanding burglary, violation of a protective order and abuse of a family member warrants. The suspect broke free from the arresting officers, but was apprehended after a foot pursuit and also was arrested for second-degree escape.
