Home dates against North Dakota and Pepperdine completed the unknown nonconference portion of the 2012-13 Hawaii men’s basketball schedule released today.
UH will play 19 home dates at the Stan Sheriff Center starting Nov. 9 against Maryland-Eastern Shore.
The Rainbow Warriors will open their first season of Big West Conference play with a three-game homestand starting Dec. 29 against Cal State Northridge.
Portions of the schedule — the season-opening Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic starting and the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic on Dec. 22, 23 and 25 — were previously released.
Other previously known games included UH’s hosting of Illinois on Nov. 16 and playing at UNLV on Dec. 1 in stand-alone nonconference games. UH still might play a December game on Molokai, but that would be announced later.
First-year coach Laura Beeman’s Rainbow Wahine basketball team opens up the season at San Francisco on Nov. 9. The Wahine play a gauntlet of a nonconference slate, highlighted by defending national champion Baylor and semifinalist Stanford appearing in the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic Nov. 16 to 18.
The Wahine’s schedule features 12 teams that saw postseason play last year — six NCAA teams and six WNIT teams. The UH women open Big West play on Jan. 3 at Cal State Fullerton. Their home opener is Nov. 16 against Tennessee-Martin.
